Meaning:
Pranayama is a regular practise that leads to a healthy and disease-free life. If it is not done on a daily basis, the body will become the source of many ailments.
The Yogachudamani Upanishad of the sacred Veda, "Samaveda," contains the preceding shloka. This Hinduism Veda minor Upanishad is also known as the "Crown Jewel of Yoga."
It is apparent that "Pranayama" is not a recent discipline, but rather one that dates back thousands of years. This holy practise re-connects us to our spiritual roots from a long time ago.
What is Pranayama?
Pranayama can be defined as the union of two words, "Prana" and "Ayama," according to contemporary definitions. This is entirely incorrect. Pranayama is a combination of the words "Prana" and "Yama," with "Prana" meaning "Life Force (Breath)" and "Yama" meaning "Control," giving it the connotation of "Control of Breath" or "Control of Life Force."
What is Prana?
The life force or inner energies of the human body is termed as "Prana". Whatever happens with you and how your body reacts to it is determined by your prana. It is an energy or power that forms the foundation of life and creates essence in it. Everything that exists has prana in it.
Prana is a connection between mind and the consciousness. It regulates the physical functions of the human body. Breathing, oxygen supply, purification & filtration of toxic materials, and much more are done by Prana.
